EPPA is dedicated to bringing you all of the latest updates in the local (and national) world of pickleball. As we continue to grow, we want to welcome all of our newest members. You are now part of the coolest pickleball organization around, but I could be a little biased. We have had so much going on lately that I wanted to provide updates all in one post. So here goes!
Dink and Decorate
THANK YOU to all of our generous sponsors who came out to decorate and/or play to help raise money for our pickleball tree! Also to our generous host, Westwood Racquet Club. All the paddles were sponsored! If you took your paddle with you, please return it to the collection box at Westwood Racquet Club (the box is on top of the drink cooler when you first walk in) OR to Church of the Cross during morning open play times. We ask that all paddles, used pickleballs, medals, etc. be placed in the donation box by Tuesday, November 15th.
Clinics
We are committed to continuing our pickleball clinics as they have been a HUGE success. Sunday's beginner clinic is full, but more are coming very soon!
The intermediate clinic still has some openings. $15 per person. 4:30- 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 13th. Westwood Racquet Club, 2660 Zuck Rd. Led by Matt Johnson. Please reply to this email to reserve your spot! This clinic is for players around the 3.5 level who wants some tips and drills to help elevate their game.
Shootouts
Seniors- find your partner and sign up for the Senior Shootout. Need help registering? Come to Westwood on Thursday, November 10th from 3:30 to 4:30 with your email address, know your password to log in, and a form of payment and we will help! A Donation from the proceeds will be made the the ANNA Shelter, a local organization helping animals in need.
MANY EPPA members have medaled in local shootouts/ tournaments recently! Way to go players. See below for results.
The Howling Tournament in Lakewood, NY on October 22 and 23 was also a successful event for many EPPA members. Results are shown below.
Tune in
Stephen Colbert's “Pickled” will debut on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. The comedian will host a two-hour pickleball tournament, “Pickled,” that will feature 16 celebrities competing for a coveted “Colbert Cup” and benefit the non-profit Comic Relief U.S. “If you love pickleball and you love celebrities and you love helping people, you’re going to love watching these celebrities help people by playing pickleball,” said Colbert in a prepared statement.
Know what's even cooler? Erie's own (and EPPA member) Matt Manasse was the COACH to these stars as they prepared for the tournament. That will make tuning in even more fun!
