As we prepare for Thanksgiving, the EPPA board would like to thank YOU for your continued support of our organization.  We started as a small group of pickleball players with the intention of growing our favorite sport in the Erie Area and WOW! We are humbled by how much our membership has grown.  You inspire us to do more- tournaments, clinics, social events.  We are excited for all of the big things to come in 2023 for pickleball in Erie.  Lots of updates below, so stick with me until the end!

The EPPA Elves were busy decking the halls with pickleballs and our tree is ready!  We started with a blank canvas (see below) and can’t quite reveal the finished product yet.  Go check it out in person at AHN’s Festival of the Trees at the Bayfront Convention Center.  We are tree #26, be sure to vote for your favorite (hopefully OURS)!  Hours are: 

A quick note from me (Elena)- I am touched at the amount of support for our tree! Thank you to our association for sponsoring the tree, to Westwood Racquet Club for letting us "Dink and Decorate", and to every donor, paddle and sign designer, pickleball and medal collector, and of course, our decorator elves.  We hope this is the first of several pickleball trees.  I grew up going to the Festival of the Trees and I have never seen a tree with personal touches quite like ours.

This event on December 10th is filling FAST.  There are just a few spots left.  Our shootouts are always a good time; sign up (click here) and have some FUN!  We need ONE team for the 60-69 age bracket. I have a female player who would like a mixed doubles partner.  Men- if you fall into this age group and are 3.5 or higher, respond to this email and I can pair you up! We also need ONE team for 70 and up.  All other age groups are full!  

Part of being an EPPA member is access to some “Members Only” events!  In order to view these exclusive listings, you MUST be logged into your EPPA account.  View these member only EPPA events: Intermediate Clinic at Westwood (register via Court Reserve) and the EPPA Christmas Party! Remember, these links will only work if you sign into your EPPA account.

MANY of you have asked for evening open play hours and we now have them!  Four courts running at Westwood Racquet Club on Friday nights 6:00-8:00 pm.  Two courts for beginners and two for intermediate and up.  Sign up via Court Reserve.  There are spots open for Friday, November 25th.  Come run around the pickleball court to celebrate the day after Thanksgiving. Bring a friend who is in from out of town and show them what EPPA is all about!

Can’t make it Friday?  Spots are still open for open play (all levels) on Saturday, November 26th 9am-11 am. If the 7 currently open spots fill, we are able to add two more courts and up to 20 total players for THIS Saturday. Again, bring a friend and mix in for a very fun way to start the day! 

Check out the Erie Sports Center on Saturday, November 26.  11:00 am- 2:00 pm.  ALL levels are welcome and the entrance fee is $1.00!  Bring your friends or show up solo. Instruction will be available from 12:00 pm- 2:00 pm.  If you’ve never tried pickleball, here’s your chance to get some basics!  Are you a pickleball pseudo-pro?  Bring some others and show off your moves on the court.
