Guess what is happening tomorrow (Tuesday) morning? The LONG awaited time is here. I just spoke with Bob B. and the City let him know that the locks will be taken off the courts at Baldwin and they will be playable tomorrow morning! Is anyone else excited?! Grand opening/ribbon cutting will be announced as soon as we know.
Although Baldwin Park is not owned/governed by the EPPA, we all know this has become "our park". We are ambassadors for pickleball and for the EPPA every time we step on the courts. We are working with the City to develop signage for open play times, but the signage most likely won't be up by tomorrow. Please keep in mind the following as we start this new adventure at Baldwin Park.
If courts are FULL and people are waiting, please limit play to one game to 11 and then rotate out
If players are not waiting, you may remain on your court
Please play with players of the same skill level/ability as you
No singles play when players are waiting to rotate in
Clean up after yourself and dispose of trash properly
Have fun and be polite
To ALL of the EPPA board members past and present who worked hard to get this done- THANK YOU! A special huge amount of gratitude goes out to Bob and Tom for spending hours meeting with the City to stress the importance of pickleball players having a place to play. Being involved in this process has been frustrating at times because there were delays, and more delays. This is truly a moment of huge celebration for our organization!
