The EPPA hosted our very first Novice Shootout at the Eastside YMCA on Saturday, June 4. Over the past few months, the EPPA has provided beginners instruction and open play and many of the shootout participants took part in that learning opportunity.
The winners are as follows- Gold medalists: Sue Zimmerman and Talin Mosher Silver medalists: Margueritta Estes and Chuck Dean Bronze medalists: Jill Shaffer and Bill Loomis

In other tournament news, just a quick ride down I-79 there was a HUGE turnout for this weekend's USA Pickleball North Mid-Atlantic Diamond Regional. While this was not an EPPA event, we had some amazing members participate. Congrats to our very own John Paway, Marlene Sandberg, and Oto Hlincik. Oto and his partner, Dave MacKenzie won the gold medal in 4.5 age bracket 35 + years old. Fantastic playing!
If you know someone that is new to pickleball or is just learning the basics, we have a beginners clinic starting on Wednesday, June 15th at 11 am at Baldwin Park. The clinic will run for 6 weeks. No registration needed- just show up! Sherry Elchynski and Elena Arnold will help new picklers learn the fundamentals of the game. Come out and have some fun with us.
